What should I look in a Home Theater Projector?
By pfhometheater | January 6, 2010
I am looking for a new Projector to connect it to my laptop and watch movies in my clear white wall. However, there so many brands and options and they range from different prices. I want the size screen of the project to be as huge as possible and as clear as it possibly can get. What features am I really looking in such projection? I really don’t understand the terminology they have.
Any help?

The first decision you need to make is how much you want to spend.
The second is what resolution you want. If you’re able to spend over $1000, you can get 1080p (2 megapixels). That will give you the clearest possible image on Blu-ray and other HD sources. Otherwise you may need to settle for 720p (1 megapixel).
If you have $2500 to spend, get the Panasonic PT-AE3000U.

If you have $1000, and want 1080p, get the Optoma HD20.

If you have $800, there are many good models, such as the Epson 720.

Instead of worrying too much about specs, narrow it down to a few models, then do a search on reviews. You generally can’t do wrong with a popular projector.
Here’s a search engine:

It’s a toss-up between two major DLP projectors: an Optoma HD20 and an Infocus X10. Both sell for around $1,000 – $1250. Check out the reviews at http://www.projectorcentral.com. For the best deal on the largest screen, you may want to consider a paint-on-the-wall screen from http://www.goosystems.com starting around $150.00.
Good luck!
