Planning A Family Holiday Picture Show With A File Rename Program

It’s that time of year when family members gather to enjoy each other’s company and look back at another year almost gone. Playing a computer slideshow of all those family pictures is a great way to accomplish this. Think of it as your new, technologically advanced, family photo album. However, this can hit a snag if your computer pictures aren’t organized.
Do you even know where to begin to look in the computer to find all of the pictures that have been taken of you and the family over the past year? A file rename is probably what you’re going to need to do to start and sort out this mess. For a lot of people the concept of a file rename project means hours or even days of sitting in front of the computer going through files. You need to be open to an easier option.

Move Them About
If you have found that a number of your pictures are on different directories, you can highlight them and move them in bulk to where you want them. Once this is done it will only take you seconds to find all those photos you need in the future.
Changing The Name
When it comes to organizing, being able to look at the file name and know what a picture is is priceless. You want quick reference file names that makes sense, like “Easter holiday 2009″ or something else that clearly defines what a photograph is. Instead of having to open all of the pictures on your computer trying to find the right ones, the filename will let you know exactly what you’re about to see.

If you’re like a lot of people you don’t just have one photo type, but all sorts of file types when it comes to your pictures. If you want these all to be the same you can highlight them and ask a batch file rename program to convert them all into the same file type.
With a batch program it will not take long to rename all of the photo files on your computer, then you can easily pick and choose the events you want to show off and put them into a slideshow for the whole family to enjoy over the holidays.
